What happens to the body when you’re not getting enough sleep?
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Disruption of circadian rhythm
- Impaired cognition
- Higher risk of hypertension
- Higher risk of stroke
- Higher risk of heart disease
- Increased risk of breast cancer
- Higher risk of diabetes
- Unhealthy cravings
- Higher risk of injury
Now, what can you do to change this? LOTS! Some may work…and some may not. You kinda have to try them out and see what works for you. Here are a few things you can try:
- Massage
- Meditation
- Incorporating physical activity into your day
- Lymphatic Drainage
- Yoga/Yoga Nidra
- Sex (ha! Yep, I said it!)
- Walks in nature
- Time spent with loved ones
- Sleep with your phone in another room
- No Electronics past a certain time (an hours or so before bedtime)
- Have a bed time routine. (washing face, brushing teeth, mediation)
- Cut back on caffeine
